Monday 2nd December 2024
Dear Centre Members, Aligned HDR Colleagues, and Allied Members,
As the weather remains variable across the state and the week, we must be ready for anything. Our seasons shift from poorneet to Gurru – the grasses are seeding and drying. The CFA – Country Fire Authority are gearing up for a big year this year. They are expecting a long hot summer and encourage preparation now. Do you have your fire plan in place? Are all your cherished things ready to be packed in case of an evaluation. What will you do on a catastrophic fire day? Watch Craig Reucassel’s Big Weather – and how to survive it (ABC iView) if you need insight and encouragement.
We are starting to wrap for the year – the CRF’s second year in existence. It is time to reflect. Please enjoy the Goal Setting strategy – at your leisure and with your favoured colleague – see below for details. You have until the 13th December to make the most of this reflective opportunity that will set you up for a great, goal driven year next year.
We enjoyed our final Futures forum for the year with an extravaganza – the Critical Forest Collaboratory – was an international feat of amazing research. Please watch the recording in preparation for our final On Country event for the year – on the 11th December. We will keep an eye on the weather and take advice if the weather is not right for us to be in the forest. Otherwise – we are all set. See below for the details – it will be a wonderful program. As usual, please let us know if you can not physically make it and would like to Zoom in! We are pleased to support colleagues in this way. We will have selfie sticks and charged batteries with many of us offering to accompany our online colleagues for short parts of the day. We value being inclusive and sharing the wonderful opportunity.
Looking forward to the final three weeks of this year.
The CRF will be producing 2 more newsletters this year. We have some great reflections and look forward to sharing some plans for 2025 as they are set in place. Please be in touch if you would like to be involved in any way.
Best wishes
Peta and Jo
