Newsletter 42, 2023

As the year draws to a close, we have reflected on 2023, our first year of being the Centre for Regenerating Futures. This year we have concentrated on generating an inclusive, enjoyable, collegial space for us as researchers. We have created opportunities to understand and enact decolonising practices.  Working together, we are driven to do this work, especially after the horrendous referendum result. We have positioned ourselves as researchers both of and in the Anthropocene, but recognise there is always more to do, especially in the interdisciplinary space as researchers from different discipline areas find ways to interact and collaborate. And finally, we have endeavoured to build the capacity of our researchers – members and HDR colleagues.

Dear Centre Members, Aligned HDR Colleagues, and Allied Members,

In our leadership, we will now shift gears slightly to focus more on research outcomes: generating HDR completions, publications, research initiatives and income as well as engagement and impact. Over the next two years, we aspire to support several ARC applications, Category 2 projects and to build a reputation for innovative, impactful research while engaging diverse communities in our research outcomes. We are a research Centre and a significant part of the Faculty research ecology – our aspirations are to contribute meaningfully to the research capacity and outcomes across the faculty – creating space for our members to achieve excellence.

Best wishes,

Peta & Jo
