Monday 23rd September 2024
Dear Centre Members, Aligned HDR Colleagues, and Allied Members,
We move into the final week of trimester 2, and spring or Poorneet, tadpole season (see more about the CSIRO research into Indigenous seasons calendars here – none completed for Victoria… yet!).
See Inspiring Australia – Victoria here – The Seven Seasons of the Kulin People, created by Greenaway Architects for Nagara Place (RMIT University).
This is a gestational time… (see here). The Lyrebird is finishing their dance having (hopefully) found a partner. Pied Currawongs call loudly and the gurnmil (snakes) and budjing (lizards) are active. The murnong are ready for eating. The temperature rises, rain continues, and days and nights are of equal length.
As we move into a less teaching focussed time we hope that the CRF activities will be of interest. We have a lot going on with On Country #4 coming up on the 10th October at the You Yangs, Some fabulous Futures Forums having just been (Michele Lobo) and coming this week Reece Walters. The Decolonising Knowledges and Practices Reading Group continues as does the CCE Summit. We announce the selection process for our HDR event – graphic illustrating your PhD research with Sarah Firth.
Congratulations to Jo Raphael for successfully directing a wonderful production – The Weathering!
“Some storms I loved, others I feared”. Emerging from the stories and imaginations of our actors, The Weathering is an original, contemporary devised performance by Fusion Theatre’s ensemble. A collection of voice, live music, audio recordings, movement, and design. The Weathering is an exploration of our ability to withstand and emerge stronger. It’s all in the weathering. Performed by Fusion Theatre.
Best wishes to all for a great week!
Peta and Jo
