Dear Centre Members, Aligned HDR Colleagues, and Allied Members,
Womenjeka – welcome and come with purpose!
One of the best things we can do as a centre, we believe, is to build capacity around our two key imperatives: addressing Anthropocene challenges and decolonising knowledges and practices. We will soon be evaluated for our two years of operation. How do you think we have performed? Do you have stories of ways the CRF has enabled your research? If you do – please share to our centre inbox.
The CRF is starting to build an international reputation. Our newsletters are enjoyed by many allied members across Australia and internationally. We are now starting to formalise our connections in ways that will benefit our CRF members and HDC Colleagues. Today we are introducing another strategy – the Turbo Charger (see below). This strategy sits alongside our Post Doc Support strategy to increase the breadth of those whom we call members and enable us all to further develop and extend our practice (and, of course, outputs). Read about both initiatives below and consider if you are interested in being involved or if you have colleagues who might benefit.
We strongly encourage you to consider applying for and using the Enabler funds – as they need to be expended by the end of November. We provide examples below of ways you may productively use these funds to advance your research projects. We request an acquittal process this year and we love to share your outputs via our website when they are published (next year).
Lots going on this week with our Cli-Fi Retreat at Burwood campus. We are starting to see climate fiction in all that we do… how about you? Thanks to our CRF members and colleagues who are joining in for the Decolonising reading group and discussion. The first was generative and rich in discussion. The yarning circle strategy is applied to online gatherings encouraging each to share narratives.
There is a warm invitation especially for HDR colleagues below, to join together for the first Co-Lab on Tuesday. In fact, many CRF members have shared coming events – please scan below for details.
For the home bread makers out there – this month is sourdough September and also organic September! So happy eating to all.
Best wishes
Jo and Peta
