Monday 6th May
Dear Centre Members, Aligned HDR Colleagues, and Allied Members,
We are heading into a time when the CRF is bursting with activity. We are co-hosting events, planning our retreat, setting up plans for the rest of the year, as well as supporting research across the faculty. We know there is a lot to read in our weekly newsletters, the newsletter is part of our communications strategy helping keep us connected as a research community. This week we also provide information about the CRF Communications Strategy.
We are warming up to celebrate World Bee day in May – with some interesting facts about bees…. We are doing this so that we can all feel more informed and ready to take action when another swarm of bees chooses to find refuge in Deakin infrastructure. Twice last year swarms were annihilated with insecticide so that they didn’t continue living near the School of Education at Burwood. CRF members Michiko Weinmann and Joe Ferguson raised questions about appropriate management of the swarm but were not able to save the bees. We want to be better prepared for next time.
This week we are also announcing some details on our next exciting On-Country event to be held on Wadawurrung Country and it has much to do with fabulous seaweed!
Read on, and have a great week,
Jo and Peta
