Dear Centre Members, Aligned HDR Colleagues, and Allied Members,

Today (22nd April) is Earth Day, a worldwide environmental initiative that began in 1970. Let’s take time to honour, celebrate and care for our remarkable planet on Earth day. The theme for this year is Planet vs Plastics – more info in the newsletter below.

This week we are very much looking forward to another Centre On Country day (Tuesday 23rd April) on Wurundjeri Country at Merri Creek. Together we’ll be engaging in ecosomatic practices, experiencing the connection between body, earth, all living things and each other and preparing and sharing wholesome foods – home grown, made, prepared or locally sourced. It’s not too late to sign up for this mind and body nourishing event- details below.

Have you made it to many of our Futures Forums? Last Wednesday we hosted a unique Futures Forum with Dr. Frazer Thorpe – Plants 4 Space – Creating sustainable Plants, Processes, Products, and cultivating the People for surviving and thriving on and off Earth habitation. https://plants4space.com/ One of our members commented:“I found it to be a really intriguing presentation and discussion, and I’m really glad I made it. It has set my head spinning thinking about all the issues and implications, and the potential directions. I love having the chance to listen to presentations like this. It’s what keeps my brain ticking!”  If you missed it, you can listen to Frazer’s presentation here.

We have another Futures Forum coming up in person or on Zoom on Wednesday  – Chemistry for sustainability with Stephen A. Matlin from the Institute of Global Health Innovation, Imperial College London.  As always, plenty of other things happening  in the CRF to read about below.

Have a wonderful Earth Day and week
