Monday 29th January, 2024

Dear Centre Members, Aligned HDR Colleagues, and Allied Members,

Welcome to the Centre for Regenerating Futures newsletter series for 2024. We have listened to feedback and are now publishing our newsletter on Mondays – so we have a full week to enjoy the news items and links. As usual, we have some CRF news to share and our dates and plans for the year are set.

We hope that you have enjoyed a wonderful break and an easy / gentle start to this year.

Our CRF new year’s resolutions are:

  1. Continue to support our members to deepen researcher capacity;
  2. Focus on funding / grant skill building and opportunities including ARC funding for members; and
  3. Nurture and expand our community while developing our research practices.

To ensure that we are supporting the CRF to be the best we can, we extend our invitation to undertake our survey again at the start of this year. We invite you to spend a little time reflecting on the Centre events and achievements so far and the directions you would like to see us take. Please click the link to the survey. It need not take long, and will be time well spent.

The survey will remain open until the 31st January. That is just 3 days to go. (Go on, do it now. You can be brief!)

SURVEY

Closes 31st January 2024

While we remain focussed on building and nurturing our Centre research community, in our leadership we will now shift gears slightly to focus more on research outcomes: generating HDR completions, publications, research initiatives and income as well as engagement and impact. Over the next two years, we aspire to support several ARC applications, Category 2 externally funded projects and to build a reputation for innovative, impactful research while engaging diverse communities in our research outcomes. We are a research Centre and a significant part of the Faculty research ecology – our aspirations are to contribute meaningfully to the research capacity and outcomes across the faculty – creating space for our members to achieve excellence.

Things to note:

  • The 4th On Country event of 2023 will be held on the 23rd February 2024. Some details are below and the calendar invite is coming out next week with full details.
  • The centre video is in draft form and close… We look forward to sharing that with you in the near future. Thanks to everyone who was able to participate.  The delay was related to the need to take additional footage to ensure a high quality video.
  • The Collaborative manuscripts are now back on the agenda and of high priority.  Sorry – the delay was due to the need for a break… now we are rested, we will attend to our developing manuscripts and be back in touch soon. We have one more to collect data for, editing for all three and there is an open invitation for future collaborative manuscript proposals.
  • Don’t forget our Socials… friend the Centre and share our posts – this is how we build community beyond our Faculty

Have a wonderful week and please let us know if we can support your research endeavours in any way.

Best wishes,

Peta and Jo
