2026 Newsletter 11

RF Newsletter #11 – Tuesday 7th July 2026

Dear Regenerating Futures Colleagues!

We wish to begin by acknowledging the unceded Country we work, play, and engage with this week – and all weeks! We also wish to acknowledge First Peoples across Australia (and beyond) as we stay vigilant to the ongoing colonisation as we work to disrupt and decolonise our practices. We acknowledge and thank Indigenous Elders and stand in solidarity with your leadership.

This week is NAIDOC Week!

We are confident that you are celebrating with Indigenous colleagues across your many activities this week.  See here

The RF is really pleased to announce that our ARC Discovery Project – Culturally Regenerative Universities – received some good (and appropriately critical) feedback, and we have now submitted the rejoinder.  Good luck to this 6 university project that aims to bring cultural regeneration to our universities through research-informed practice.

The RF is engaging in much planning for a very active end to this year.

1: Thanks to Anna Wylie (the RF RA) for your great energy and leadership as we plan two of our funded engagement and impact projects. See details in the report below. Look out for the

  • International Symposia and resulting edited volume – (re)Positioning Education as the Driver of Social Transformation – 10th November (from 3 – 6pm and 7 – 10pm)
  • Four Strategic Action Symposia
    • Earth – Friday 31st July @ 10 to 3pm (in collaboration with the Decolonising Reading Group)

    • Air – Thursday 10th September @ 10 to 3pm
    • Water – Friday 20th November @ 10 to 3pm – somewhere along the Birrarung

2: The RF is co-hosting the Elemental Re-Worlding: Second International Ecoliteracy Research Festival 2027 in Denmark next year and the call for participation is included below. The call is out so start planning how you might be involved and come along.

3: The RF is collaborating with Green Schools – Bali with the Regeneration 27 conference located at the Green School – Bali in Feb 2027. The call is out so start planning how you might be involved and come along.

Other events of special note – with details below:

  • Incubator advance/retreat – is being planned for the RF members involved in October @ Waurn Ponds – We received School of Education funding for this program.
  • Second On Country day – 11th August – see the details below. This On Country day will be a wonderfully, embodied, and enjoyable event for all. Imagine this – singing for climate action in a botanic garden and then great food and explorations of the St Kilda EcoCentre…. Sounds like a great connection day.
  • A call for contributions to a state government plan – Climate Action Plan!
  • A call for chapters for the Climate Child: Childhood and Education in a Planetary Polycrisis.
  • Links to a recently published report called From Cradle to Career – Fossil Fuel Industry in Australian Schools & Childhood Settings
  • Futures Forums are lining up for the second half of the year – if you have colleagues you want to engage with, please let us know.

We wish you all a very happy start to trimester 2. This is the trimester when we can hopefully settle into balance with regeneration – working to enjoy our commitments.

Best wishes,Peta and Jo
