In this short period of time between submitting results for Trimester 1 and preparing for Trimester 2, we hope you’ll have some time to focus on exciting research projects and activities. This week brings the School of Education Research Conference on Wednesday and Thursday; best wishes to all who are presenting.
We are coming up to NAIDOC week 5-12 July. Its origins go back to the 1938 Day of Mourning, when Aboriginal protestors marched through Sydney to protest the status and treatment of Indigenous Australians. Since 1975, NAIDOC (National Aboriginal and Islanders Day Observance Committee) has instituted this week to celebrate the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year’s theme is ’50 Years Deadly ’. Let’s find some deadly ways to recognise the achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. You can get in early by joining the Decolonising Knowledges reading group, who are meeting on Friday 26 June – all are welcome – see below for the reading and Zoom link.
We are excited to announce one of our new Regenerating Futures Project: Regenerative Arts-based and Embodied Approaches to the Anthropocene – Engagement & impact activities – Achieving Impact. We are using the elements as a theme for these events that will bring together researchers and industry partners to consider complex systems and to take action through the kinds of hands-on and embodied approaches to generating research ideas and partnership development that we value in our Regenerating Futures research community. These events are also acts of practical hope. Read about it below, and please share your ideas and join us.
